Bing Places and Apple Business Connect: A Setup Guide
Claim your free Bing Places and Apple Business (formerly Business Connect) listings, then keep your name, address, phone and hours identical everywhere.

Claim your free listings on Bing Places for Business and on Apple Business (the Apple service that replaced Apple Business Connect in April 2026), then make your name, address, phone number and hours match your Google profile exactly. Both cost nothing, and each has a verification step that takes days, so start soon.
Google gets most of the attention in the SEO guide for McAllen and the Valley. This post covers the other places a customer or an assistant may look and how to keep them right. Finish your Google profile first, with the Google Business Profile checklist.
Why bother with listings beyond Google?
Because customers and software look in more than one place. Microsoft describes Bing Places for Business as a free service for managing how you appear in Bing search results and Bing Maps. Apple says its place card, the panel shown when someone selects your location, appears in Maps, Siri, Calendar and Messages. A customer who taps a location a friend shared lands there, not on Google.
What about AI assistants? OpenAI's help center says ChatGPT search sometimes works with other search providers and may share your location with trusted third-party providers of local information, such as nearby business listings. Its privacy section links to Microsoft's and Shopify's privacy statements. OpenAI does not publish how it weighs sources, and nobody outside the AI companies knows the full recipe. So this post does not claim a listing gets you named. A wrong record just gives a person or an assistant a reason to skip you. More in how ChatGPT recommends local businesses.
How do you claim your business on Bing Places?
Search Bing for your business first, since a listing may already exist. Then sign in to Bing Places for Business (bing.com/forbusiness) with a Microsoft, Google, Facebook or work account. That account owns what you claim, so use one you will keep, not an employee's personal login.
- Import from Google if your profile is verified. Pick a sync schedule, sign in to Google and import what Bing detects. Microsoft says a listing already verified on Google is verified on Bing automatically.
- Otherwise, claim the existing listing at your address, or create one if none exists.
- Verify with a six-digit PIN by phone, text, email or postcard. Not every option is offered to every business, and phone appears only when the listing holds your unedited business number.
- Wait. Microsoft says a verified listing usually takes 7 to 12 calendar days to publish in North America, and each edit restarts the clock, so finish your changes before you save.
Two cautions on the Google import: you cannot choose which listings it brings in, and it can create duplicates. For now, a Google-linked listing is edited in Google, not in Bing Places.
How do you claim your business on Apple Business?
Apple folded Business Connect into a free service called Apple Business on April 14, 2026, and said claimed locations, place card details and photos would migrate automatically. A new owner starts at business.apple.com. You control the place card: photos, hours, phone, website, categories, a description and a "showcase" for an offer. Ads in Maps are a separate, optional product.
- Sign up with your organization's name and address, a real person's name (not a job title), a phone number for verification codes and, optionally, your website, which Apple says can speed up verification.
- Add your location: claim it if it already exists on Maps, or add it and drag the pin onto the right building.
- Verify your organization within 60 days. Apple wants two kinds of proof. Its guide lists a Business ID (a D-U-N-S number or an EIN, the IRS tax number), a text record in your domain settings, or a document such as a business license, lease or utility bill. It can take up to five business days, longer when busy.
- For a place already on Maps, Apple may offer a call with a four-digit code to the number it has on record. If that number is old, use the organization route.
Apple says its reviews of organizations, transfers and name changes can take up to five business days, and other edits will vary. The display name must match your sign or website, with no tagline. Say a Harlingen bakery goes by a Spanish and an English name: Apple lets you add an alternate name for another language.
What is the one rule that matters most?
Identical name, address, phone number and hours everywhere. Microsoft says to keep them consistent across all your online channels. Bing also checks what owners submit against other search engines, websites and social media, and its edit page says changes to basic details apply only if they match trusted outside data.
Start with a master record: your name as on your sign, your address with the suite number, your main phone, website, hours and primary category. Your website is the source of truth, and Apple says place card hours should match it. Bing's rules add that the name should skip words like "best" or "cheap" unless they are in your legal name.
Say a dental office on 10th Street in McAllen shows "Suite 210" on its website, but one map omits the suite and another has an old front-desk number. A patient or an assistant reading three versions still has to pick one.
Photos and hours drift most. Add exterior photos so people recognize the door, and use Apple's temporary hours for holidays. Yelp and Facebook should carry the same record too. Yelp says claiming a Business Page is free, but its help center says not to ask anyone to review you, the opposite of how to get more Google reviews, so keep those habits apart. On Facebook, Meta says location and hours live under Info, then Details.
What if a listing is wrong or duplicated?
Claim it, then fix it. On Bing, report duplicates you find. A listing marked as a duplicate cannot be edited, so Microsoft says to claim the published listing, or request access if someone else already did.
On Apple, if another organization already manages your location, add it anyway and request a transfer with documents such as a business license or utility bill. Review can take up to five business days. If customers report you closed while the card says open, Apple may edit your hours and email your administrators. You can accept or contest the change.
If you moved, do not overwrite the old Bing address. Microsoft says to create a new listing and mark the old one closed. Say a taquería in Edinburg moves up the road: new listing, old one closed, which Bing removes after about six months.
How do you keep it right with a 15-minute quarterly check?
Set a reminder for the first week of each quarter, and keep your master record open.
- Search your business and city on Bing, and open your card in Apple Maps. Compare name, address, phone and hours with the master record.
- Look for duplicates, and for a "closed" label you did not put there.
- Add special hours for the next holidays on Apple, Google and Facebook. If Bing syncs from Google, change hours in Google.
- Check your email for Apple Business notes about edits to your name, status or hours.
- Glance at Yelp and Facebook, and answer new reviews.

Frequently asked questions
Are Bing Places and Apple Business free?
Yes. Microsoft describes Bing Places for Business as a free service for claiming or adding a listing in Bing search and Bing Maps, and Apple says Apple Business is free. Both ask you to verify before your changes take full effect.
What happened to Apple Business Connect?
Apple replaced it with Apple Business on April 14, 2026, a free service that also covers device management and business email. Apple said existing claimed locations, place cards and photos would move over automatically, and existing owners sign in with the same personal Apple Account.
Does a Bing or Apple listing make ChatGPT recommend my business?
Nobody outside the AI companies knows the full recipe, and OpenAI does not publish one. Its help center says ChatGPT search sometimes works with other search providers and may use trusted providers of local information, such as business listings. Accurate listings are a cheap step, but none can guarantee you are named.
How long does it take for a listing to show up?
It varies. Microsoft says a Bing postcard PIN typically arrives in 5 to 6 business days in the US, and a verified listing usually takes 7 to 12 calendar days to publish. Apple says organization verification can take up to five business days.
